The heat of this last month has been really something at times. So A dress made from linen has been created. With a 1920s shape theme. Jasmine has been in flower everywhere so that was my embroidery inspiration. The finishing touches were " flapper" sleeves. It's so pretty and eye catching.
I wear it with Jasmine scented perfume because it glorious when you smell every bit as pretty as you look
I used a red linen, from a small company based in Yorkshire. It's every bit as vibrant as the pictures, it's soft and light without being transparent. The dress pattern itself is one of my own design, that encompasses the open darts used in vintage dressmaking. The darts I used around the neckline, to give a strong feminine finish. The add shape without adding a weight.
I took my time to observe the way Jasmine grows , the variation of hues of green and the way the nearly perfect white blooms sit perfectly irregular, like they were somehow arranged by bees just for me. The blooms are so tiny they look like the slightest touch will damage them, yet strong wind and birds have not upset them yet.
So I used 100%cotton embroidery floss, in three shades of green and white for the Jasmine flowers with a tiny pale, almost line green cross stitch in the centres.
