Tweetled Beetle Beanie

A few days ago I saw a black beetle scurrying in the earth among some wild violas. The contrast made everything very striking, so I decided to create Tweetle Beetle Beanie . 

I used all of the colours around the beetle as inspiration. So many plant foliage is different in colour this year, the heat and lack of rain has altered the way so many species are growing. 

The yarn used still holds all its natural properties because the wool has only been carefully washed, dyed and spun, so it's great for felting and its so soft. 

I crocheted the hat using double crochet stitch, using chunky 100%wool and a 9mm hook, I crochet the body of the beetle using  black cotton embroidery floss and then proceeded to stitch it to the beanie and then embroidered on the other elements. I used slip stitch and back stitch. 

This little creation will last a lifetime and when it's all at the end of its life, it can just be popped into the compost and feed the earth. Now it just needs a home.
